My food philosophy
I believe you should eat what makes you feel good with ingredients that make you excited to create something delicious. I focus on an abundance of fresh, seasonal foods in my kitchen, but believe life is too short to not eat pizza and French pastries once in a while so you'll find plenty of indulgent eats tucked in here and there too.
I think a slice of fresh sourdough bread with butter and flaky salt is pure bliss, cheese is its own kind of magic, and the corner piece of a batch of brownies is the very best. I believe that summer tomatoes and peaches are worth getting excited over and that first pot of soup when the weather turns cold is a cause for celebration.
The recipes and cooking techniques on this site cater to both traditional unrestricted diets and occasionally gluten-free and garlic/onion-free diets as well. No matter the occasion, you’ll find tested-till-perfect recipes that will help you create dishes to be proud of.
From time to time, I may invite you along on my non-kitchen adventures. Sometimes they involve whisky tasting in the Scottish highlands and other times they might involve more introverted adventures, such as what I’m reading at the moment.
I live in Portland, OR with my fella and our sweet pup. I’m an avid traveler, lover of the Pacific Northwest, friend to all dogs, wild feminist, Harry Potter nerd, avid reader, cookbook collector, and music lover.
